The Value of Community Transportation
Community Transportation systems provide access to essential services that are critical to the daily functioning of all communities, including medical appointments and other public services. While urban and rural environments have different challenges and opportunities, communities of all sizes need some form of alternative transportation. Reliance on personal vehicles is a primary form of transportation; however there are many people who do not have access to personal vehicles as the cost of ownership continues to increase.
Current Situation...
- In Atlantic Canada residents rely on personal vehicles as a primary for of transportation, and many people don't have access to this form of transportation due to cost of ownership, physical ability, etc.
In 2012 the Canadian Automobile Association (C.A.A.) estimated the average cost of owning of vehicle to be $10,452/year.
